Study shows hunger remains prevalent in Northeast Iowa
A landmark study reveals an unprecedented number of northeast Iowans seeking Emergency Food Assistance.
It is estimated that 1 in 7 individuals in our service area go to bed hungry. At least 40,000 Northeast Iowa residents - including nearly 16,000 children and almost 4,000 seniors - receive emergency food assistance each year from the Northeast Iowa Food Bank and its member agencies.
The Northeast Iowa Food Bank provides food and grocery products to approximately 200 qualified nonprofit organizations in 16 Northeast Iowa counties.
