Current Openings:
Position: Warehouse/Driver
Date: Closing May 18th, 2012
Status: Part-time, non-exempt
Reports to: Warehouse Manager
Job Overview:
The Pickup and Delivery Driver’s primary duties include driving Food Bank vehicles for the purposes of picking up donations and delivering products to agencies and programs. Additional duties will include, but not be limited to, warehouse functions.
Responsibilities:
1. Perform retail pick-up route with refrigerated truck, collecting donations from partner retailers for the Food Bank. Maintain food safety standards, accurately track donation sources and maintain professional relationships with donors. Communicate challenges and opportunities to the Food Solicitor.
2. Make deliveries to local agencies and partners, ensuring food safety standards are met and providing outstanding customer service. Accurately record mileage data.
3. Deliver and unload product at mobile pantry sites. Maintain professional relationships with volunteers and coordinators. Communicate challenges and opportunities to the Community Programs Coordinator.
4. Maintain fuel levels and basic cleanliness of all vehicles. Report all mechanical issues to the Warehouse Manager immediately.
5. Perform other pick-up and delivery routes as assigned.
6. Assist with warehouse operations including accurate and efficient order picking, accurate inventory counts, routine cleaning and maintenance of the facility and grounds.
7. Work with volunteers to ensure work objectives are achieved and volunteers have positive experiences.
8. Other duties as assigned.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent
Experience: Minimum two years of employment with responsibility level similar to Food Bank position.
Knowledge and Skills Required:
• Ability to perform basic mathematical functions
• Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 lbs
• Ability to work in extreme environments of a warehouse with freezer and refrigeration units
• Ability to work independently and with staff to achieve objectives
• Ability to work with diverse populations including individuals of various educational, ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds
• Ability to work nights and weekends as required
• Excellent interpersonal, problem solving, communication and customer service skills
• Valid Iowa Driver’s License and willingness to obtain CDL Class B license
• Willingness and ability to learn sanitary food storage and handling guidelines and practices

Position: Health Educator
Date: May 2012
Status: Non-exempt, full time
Reports to: Agency Programs Coordinator
Job Overview: This position will assist with the nutrition education components of three Food Bank programs: Chef Charles, Kids Cafe and the BackPack Program.
Responsibilities:
1. Develop and implement nutrition educational activities at each Kids Cafe and senior nutrition site. Communicate with site contacts to schedule monthly activities. Travel to sites.
2. Implement the meals and snacks portion of Kids Cafe. This includes:
• understanding the requirements for Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP)
• assist in menu planning and implementation
• assist with prep work for all Kids Cafe meals
• assist Agency Programs Coordinator in compiling paperwork required for the programs
3. Generate content and design the monthly nutrition newsletter for the BackPack Program and Kids Cafe. Coordinate the delivery and distribution of the newsletter to program participants.
4. Create and implement evaluation of nutrition education programs.
5. Prepare nutritious foods for sampling at Chef Charles and Kids Cafe meal sites.
6. Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Skills Required:
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Organizational skills with strong attention to detail
• Computer skills- Microsoft Office, Windows and internet
• Able to work with a diverse population

• Valid driver’s license, proof of insurance and reliable vehicle required
Education Required: At minimum, bachelor’s degree in an affiliated field
