Ways to Give

Honorariums/Memorials
Send a tribute to someone in honor of a birthday, anniversary, holiday or some other special occasion by making a contribution to the Northeast Iowa Food Bank. We will send an acknowledgement card to the person of your choice, letting them know that a donation to help the hungry has been made in their name. Give the gift that gives twice!

EFT Program
Did you know that the Northeast Iowa Food Bank has an Electronic Debit Program? We can deduct a donation right out of your checking or savings account on a monthly, quarterly, or annual basis! If you would like more information about the EFT Program, click here.

Stocks & Bonds
Have you considered a gift of stocks and bonds? You can magnify your support for the Northeast Iowa Food Bank by giving gifts of securities such as these. With donations of appreciated stocks and bonds held more than one year, you may avoid tax on capital gains and may be able to claim a charitable deduction for their full market value.

Wills & Living Trusts
A bequest is the most important traditional way to provide important help for worthwhile causes.  With a gift through your will or living trust, you retain full use of your gift property during your life.

Life Insurance
You can name the Northeast Iowa Food Bank as the beneficiary of your life insurance-just contact the company. Such a gift will entitle you to an income tax deduction, and future premium payments will be tax-deductible.

IRA & Pension Funds
Your estate can save both income taxes and sales taxes if you make the Northeast Iowa Food Bank the death beneficiary of your individual retirement account or other retirement savings plan.

Business Gifts
If you own a business, you may have two "pockets" from which to give. Owners of closely held corporations should consider contributing stock in their companies. In some cases, it may be more favorable for the corporation to make charitable gifts.

Financial Accounts
Most accounts at financial institutions can be made payable at death to a person or charitable organization. Ask the manager of the institution where you do business how you can arrange to designate a death beneficiary for your CD, savings account, share account, etc. These gifts are completely revocable during life.
