Hunger Action Month™

September is Hunger Action Month, a nationwide campaign mobilizing the public to take action on the issue of hunger. Organized by the Feeding America nationwide network of food banks, the campaign brings greater attention to the issue of hunger in America and promotes ways for individuals everywhere to get involved with the movement to solve it. Join us this September. As individuals, charities, businesses and government, we all have a role to play in getting food to those in need.

Great American Milk Drive

Milk is one of the items most requested by clients, yet there is a nationwide shortage because it is rarely donated. Nearly half of the nation’s food banks get fewer than 24 gallons of milk donated per week. This campaign makes it easy for people to donate with a simple text or click of the mouse and help families in their own communities. Donations will go to local food banks based on the donor’s zip code and be distributed in the form of milk coupons. The goal of the campaign is to deliver two million gallons of milk to food banks across the country. The campaign runs from April 2, 2014 through April 1, 2015.

Outnumber Hunger

For the third year, we're teaming up with General Mills, Big Machine label Group (including dynamic country music duo Florida Georgia Line) and Feeding America to Outnumber Hunger.  By redeeming a special code from a General Mills participating product and including a local zip code, Northeast Iowan's can provide meals in our community for those who might otherwise go without.  For every code entered before January 31, 2015, General Mills will donate 55.5 cents and up to $1,200,000 dollars! Visit www.OutnumberHunger.com for more details!

Race Rescheduled

Unfortunately, due to the low number of registrations, we have decided to reschedule the race to the spring (April). This race was extremely successful last April and we feel that it would be unfair to our sponsors and our athletes to move forward with this race knowing it will not be equivalent or better than last year. As participants, you have the option to have your money returned to you or we will hold it for you until April’s race. Please contact Sunni Kegebein at skegebein@feedingamerica.org or 319-235-0507 for additional information.
