School's out! But you need to worry about where those extra meals are going to come from
1 in 5 northeast Iowa children don't get enough to eat.
When schools are closed for summer, kids who rely on free or reduced-price school breakfast and lunch have less access to nutritious meals that they need to grow and thrive. The loss of two meals a day that were once provided as free or reduced cost can present a big challenge to families and kiddos.
About Summer Feeding
This summer, we are working with 8 different Summer Feeding locations, with help from many community partners, to provide lunch and snacks for children in northeast Iowa who are at risk of going hungry when school is out.
Funding from many gracious northeast Iowa donors, will help support these summer meals.
